Protocol Education are working with multiple schools throughout Swindon to appoint engaging individuals to take on the highly rewarding role and valued role of Cover Assistant. 

The successful candidate will possess the confidence and skills to take charge of whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers. When not required to provide cover the post-holder will also be part of our student support provision offering learning support to our students and administration support to colleagues. We are therefore looking for a rounded team-player, with a positive and flexible can-do attitude who is willing to take on a key role within our support team.

No teaching qualifications are required to carry out this role. Experience, good attitude and a desire to help students is what is most important!

There are both full and part time positions available, this role can be flexible to your availability and needs. 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher
  • Manage the behaviour of students, ensuring they are engaged in their work
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects
  • Ensure that the classroom environment is conducive to learning
  • Support students with their learning and help to create a positive learning environment
  • Support the wider needs of the school

Requirements:

  • Experience working with secondary school students in any field.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Passion for education and a commitment to supporting student learning
  • Ability to deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects
  • Ability to manage behaviour and create a positive learning environment
