We are thrilled to be working with a small independent day school for pupils with autism in East Grinstead.  Our mission is to help their pupils develop the skills, understanding, and confidence needed to reach their full potential and lead full, happy lives. They are proud to have received 'outstanding' judgements in all areas during their inspection in October 2022.

Position: Autism Support Tutor

Location: East Grinstead   

Hours: Full time

Salary: £12.90 - 13.50 per hour

Role Description

As an Autism Support Tutor, you will be instrumental in providing specialised teaching that meets each pupil’s individual and autism-specific needs. You will work closely with students to help them achieve their academic goals and build essential life skills within a supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCPs.
  • Support students in their learning activities and encourage participation.
  • Help to create a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff members.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, understanding their individual needs and strengths.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress.

Requirements:

  • Experience in teaching or supporting individuals with autism is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of autism-specific teaching strategies and approaches.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students with autism succeed.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
