Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? We are recruiting on behalf of a friendly and inclusive primary school in Newham, seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 2 student with ASD (Autism).

About the Role:

  • Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Newham
  • Responsibilities:
    • Provide 1:1 support for a Year 2 child with autism, helping them navigate the school day.
    • Assist the child in accessing the curriculum and managing routines, using strategies to support their communication, social skills, and emotional development.
    • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement the child’s individual education plan (IEP).
    • Create a nurturing and supportive learning environment that fosters the child’s independence and confidence.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children with Autism/ASD or other special educational needs.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children with SEN.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with the child, staff, and parents.
  • A valid and up-to-date DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
