Job Description

Job Duties:

  • Provide 1:1 support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a classroom setting
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing individual education plans for SEND students
  • Support students with learning activities and help them to engage with the curriculum
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teacher
  • Help create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
  • Relevant experience working with children or young people with SEND
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Education:

  • Level 2 or higher qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools

Experience:

  • Experience working in a similar role within an educational setting

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of different types of SEND and how they can impact learning
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual students
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Patience and empathy when working with students with SEND

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • First Aid certification

Working Conditions:

  • Working hours typically follow the school timetable
  • May involve some physical activity, such as assisting students with mobility
  • Regular interaction with students, teachers, and parents

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
