Job Title: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant - Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

We are working with a lovely school in the heart of Romford who are needing SEN TA's. This role is a long-term role with the opportunity of a permanent position!

Job Duties:

  • Provide 1:1 support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in an educational setting
  • Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs
  • Support students in developing social skills and managing behaviour
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to create an inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Knowledge of special educational needs practises and strategies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Education:

Minimum of a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience

Experience:

Previous experience working in a similar role within an educational setting

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Ability to adapt support strategies to meet the individual needs of students
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour
  • Organisational skills and the ability to multitask

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SEN-specific training or qualifications
  • Additional training in behaviour management or related areas

Working Conditions:

This role involves working in a classroom environment with students with special educational needs. The ability to provide 1:1 support and adapt to the needs of individual students is essential. Working hours are full-time on a temporary basis.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
