Job Opportunity: Proactive Educator for Special Educational Needs School – Immediate Start
Protocol Education is seeking a proactive and dedicated educator to join an inspiring SEN school that supports young people aged 9-19. This role is ideal for a passionate individual ready to make a difference, working with students who have a range of additional needs, including mild to moderate Autism Spectrum Disorders, language impairments, emotional needs, and, in some cases, sensory or medical challenges.
Position: SEN Educator
Location: Chessington
Start Date: Immediate
Pay Rate: £90 - £95 per day
About the School:
The school is a supportive learning community for students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), offering a nurturing environment tailored to meet individual needs. With small class sizes of 8-10 students, it provides a balanced and structured education that helps students develop academically, socially, and personally.
Students in Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9) are organized into mixed-ability groups, with English and maths taught in ability sets to cater to individual learning needs. At Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11), the curriculum expands to offer diverse subject choices, resulting in recognized accreditations. The school also offers extensive enrichment opportunities, including residential trips and after-school clubs.
In keeping with the school's focus on independence, the curriculum includes life skills, travel training, and work experience. Post-16 students follow a curriculum centered on functional life skills, preparing them for adulthood and, where possible, future education or employment.
A dedicated well-being and emotional support team provides essential emotional support, including individual counseling, play therapy, and dramatherapy. The school’s Cognition and Learning Team closely monitors academic progress, ensuring each student receives tailored support.
Ideal Candidate:
The role is best suited for someone proactive, empathetic, and ready to support students with diverse needs. You should be able to engage with students, contribute to a positive learning environment, and foster independence skills essential for their futures.
