Join Our Team as a 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant!

We're working with a school in Upminster to appoint a 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant who can provide dedicated support to children with autism and other unique needs. What You’ll Be Doing:
- Nurture & Support: Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, offering tailored support to help them succeed both academically and personally.
- Assist in Learning: Help children with Autism, Asperger’s, ADHD, and other SEN needs by supporting them in their lessons and ensuring they understand the subjects.
- Hands-On Approach: Demonstrate practical strategies to help engage and motivate pupils, providing emotional and behavioural support as needed.
- Lunch Support: Be there to assist children during lunch times, ensuring they feel included, supported, and happy throughout the school day.
- Be a Role Model: Apply rules consistently, show fairness, and use excellent de-escalation skills to create a calm and positive learning environment.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience or Interest in SEN: You may already have experience working with children with autism, ADHD, speech or language difficulties, or cerebral palsy. If not, an interest in this field is just as valuable!
- Resilience & Adaptability: You’ll need to be flexible, adaptable, and able to handle changes in the daily routine with ease.
- Communication & Teamwork: Strong communication skills are essential—you’ll be liaising with teachers, parents, and other support staff to ensure the best outcomes for the children.
- Curriculum Knowledge: Ideally, you’ll have some understanding of the EYFS and/or KS1 curriculum and knowledge of strategies to engage pupils with complex needs.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Relevant NVQ or equivalent qualifications are preferred.
- A good standard of English and Mathematics is preferred.
- Basic computer skills will be useful.
- Previous experience working with challenging behaviour is desirable, but training can be provided if you're new to this field.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
